Iraq Opens a New Chapter in Digital Economy, Governance, Science & Technology

The management of the Iraq International Telecommunications and Information Technology Exhibition and Conference – ITEX IRAQ extends its sincere congratulations to Eng. Mohammed Sahib Al-Darraji on receiving the confidence of the Iraqi Council of Representatives and assuming office as Minister of Digital Economy, Governance, Science and Technology.
The establishment of a dedicated ministry for digital economy, governance, science and technology represents an important institutional step in Iraq’s development. The digital economy today extends beyond electronic services and the automation of government procedures to encompass data governance, cybersecurity, institutional efficiency, innovation, technology investment, digital entrepreneurship, and the development of a competitive knowledge-based economy.
The new ministry is expected to play an important role in developing national policies and strategies for the digital economy, coordinating government digital systems, advancing legal and regulatory frameworks, strengthening data governance, supporting Iraqi technology companies and digital start-ups, developing scientific and technological capabilities, and creating an environment capable of attracting international investment and innovation.
ITEX IRAQ is proud of the longstanding support of Eng. Mohammed Sahib Al-Darraji for the exhibition since its first edition and throughout its journey, reflecting a continued commitment to the role of technology, innovation and the private sector in shaping Iraq’s future.
The next phase presents an opportunity to establish measurable national objectives for the contribution of the digital economy to Iraq’s GDP, strengthen the country’s digital and scientific capabilities, and support the transition from a technology-consuming market toward an economy capable of developing, producing and exporting digital solutions and technological services.
On this occasion, ITEX IRAQ renews its congratulations to Eng. Mohammed Sahib Al-Darraji and wishes him success in his national responsibilities and in contributing to a new chapter that strengthens Iraq’s position in the regional and global digital economy and expands opportunities for technology, science, innovation and investment.
